Dodgers Turn to Bobby Miller for Wednesday’s Start vs Rockies

The Los Angeles Dodgers are giving Bobby Miller another shot at the big league stage. Manager Dave Roberts confirmed on Tuesday that the 26-year-old right-hander will start Wednesday’s series finale against the Colorado Rockies, the Dodgers’ last game at home before heading out on the road.

It’s a pivotal outing for Miller, who was in the mix for an Opening Day rotation spot until a scary moment derailed those plans early in spring. A line drive to the head during his first Cactus League outing forced him out of action, and ultimately down to Triple-A to begin the season.

Since then, Miller has worked his way back, making three appearances and two starts for Triple-A Oklahoma City. He’s logged 12 innings with a 2.25 ERA, slowly regaining form after a frustrating 2024 campaign.

Once considered one of the top young arms in the Dodgers’ system, Miller’s sophomore season didn’t go as planned. He finished with a 2-4 record and a brutal 8.52 ERA, battling shoulder and knee issues that impacted his mechanics and consistency. Now healthy and back in rhythm, he’s being thrust into a crucial spot as the Dodgers seek stability in a rotation missing Blake Snell, who remains on the injured list.

Miller’s rookie year in 2023 showed why the Dodgers are still so high on him. He went 11-4 with a 3.76 ERA over 22 starts, showcasing electric stuff and composure beyond his years. The arsenal is still there, arguably the most dynamic among any Dodgers pitcher, but translating that into results will be the key.
