A first-time clash between Collins and Raducanu
With Roland Garros just around the corner, Danielle Collins and Emma Raducanu are set for their first-ever meeting this Wednesday in the Round of 16 at the WTA Strasbourg.
While the Internationaux de Strasbourg has been on the calendar for nearly 40 years, it only elevated to WTA 500 status in 2024. That year, Collins made a strong run to the final but was stopped by Madison Keys in straight sets. This week, the unseeded Collins opened her campaign with a gritty three-set win over fellow American Sofia Kenin. Meanwhile, wildcard Emma Raducanu impressed with a commanding straight-sets victory over sixth seed Daria Kasatkina.

Danielle Collins turned pro in 2016, but it wasn’t until 2024 that she captured her first WTA 1000 title in Miami, followed by a trophy run at Charleston just weeks later. Interestingly, those victories came in the same season she initially announced would be her last. By year’s end, though, Collins had reconsidered retirement, opting to keep her racquet in play.
This season, however, hasn’t lived up to the highs of 2024. She failed to defend either of her titles, and her deepest run came in Charleston once again, this time bowing out in the quarterfinals to Jessica Pegula in a tight three-setter. Outside of that, she hasn’t advanced past the Round of 16 in any tournament so far.
Emma Raducanu, the 2021 US Open champion, has had a similarly stop-start year. Her best showing came in Miami, where she reached the quarterfinals before also falling to Pegula in a grueling three-set battle. Most recently, she exited in the Round of 16 at Rome, losing to Coco Gauff in straight sets.

Fantastic win for Emma
She was 0-3 against Dasha before today
This match is another example of how well she’s been playing in 2025
It takes a lot to outmaneuver Dasha on a clay court
✅3rd top 20 win 2025
✅1st Strasbourg R16

Neither player has been in top form this season, but Collins has shown slightly more consistency, reaching the Round of 16 at multiple events. Raducanu, despite glimpses of promise, hasn’t matched that level. Based on recent results, Collins holds the edge.
