Dallas Stars Secure Position in the Stanley Cup Playoffs

With a dominant win over the Kraken, the Stars secure their fourth straight postseason berth, led by Jason Robertson and new addition Mikko Rantanen.

The Dallas Stars are officially playoff-bound, and they did it dominantly. Their 5-1 victory over the Seattle Kraken on Saturday sealed their spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the fourth straight season. Now, with momentum on their side, they have their sights set on something bigger: bringing the Cup back to Dallas for the first time since 1999.

A key driving force behind the Stars’ success this season has been Jason Robertson. The 25-year-old winger started the season slowly but has been on fire since the calendar flipped to 2025. Over his last 37 games, he has racked up an impressive 47 points, making him one of the league’s most productive players in that span. With 33 goals and 42 assists through 73 games, Robertson has once again proven to be the offensive leader of this team.

But he’s not alone. Matt Duchene, now in his second season in Dallas, has turned back the clock at 34, producing at over a point-per-game pace with 28 goals and 46 assists. Wyatt Johnston and Roope Hintz have also stepped up, both surpassing 60 points this season and giving the Stars enviable depth up front.

The biggest splash, however, came at the trade deadline when Dallas pulled off a blockbuster deal to acquire Mikko Rantanen from the Carolina Hurricanes. The Finnish superstar didn’t just join the team; he committed to the long haul, signing an eight-year extension worth $12 million per season. Since his arrival, Rantanen has already put up 11 points in 11 games, quickly proving to be the missing piece the Stars needed.

Defensively, the Stars have remained solid, and their recent five-game winning streak shows they are peaking at the right time. At 48-21-4, they sit just four points behind the Winnipeg Jets for the Central Division lead. With a few more strong performances, they could find themselves entering the playoffs as one of the hottest teams in the league.

After falling short in back-to-back Conference Finals, Dallas knows the challenge ahead. But with a deep, talented roster and newfound star power, this could finally be the year they take the next step. The playoffs are coming, and the Stars are ready to shine.
