Dallas Mavericks vs Sacramento Kings Preview

The Dallas Mavericks enter this contest on the back of a 116-105 win over the Houston Rockets, their second consecutive win after losing three in a row against the 76ers, Cavaliers, and Pistons. The game against the Rockets also marked the season debut of center Anthony Davis for the Mavericks. Davis made an immediate impact, scoring 26 points and grabbing 16 rebounds for a double-double, along with 7 assists. He made 10 of 18 field goals, including 2 of 2 from long range, and also blocked three shots. However, his debut was cut short as he walked off the court late in the third quarter and is now set to miss multiple weeks due to a left adductor strain. The Mavericks will now have to regroup, as they are left with limited options at center, and Daniel Gafford will have to shoulder the bulk of the minutes against the Kings. The positive news for them is that the offensive production of their bench has been bolstered, with Max Christie scoring 23 and 15 points in back-to-back games for the Mavs.

The new-look Sacramento Kings, after losing two games since the arrival of Zach LaVine against the Magic and Trail Blazers, finally returned to winning ways with a 123-118 win over the New Orleans Pelicans. LaVine, after a quiet debut, scored 22 points against the Trail Blazers and backed it up with another 22-point game against the Pelicans. However, the Kings haven’t yet found the right combination. Malik Monk has done a decent job as the primary ball handler, but ball sharing has been a problem, as they have LaVine, who is a catch-and-shoot specialist and an elite three-point shooter, as is Malik Monk. Because of LaVine, DeMar DeRozan has been deprived of shooting opportunities. The Kings’ defense has declined, allowing 118.7 points per game in their last three outings while scoring 112 points per game. Keegan Murray is the only bright spot alongside Domantas Sabonis on the defensive end, and they will have their work cut out for them in restricting Kyrie Irving’s scoring and stopping Gafford from driving down the lane in the paint.

Dallas Mavericks vs Sacramento Kings – Final Predictions

This is the second time the Mavericks and the Kings have clashed this season. In their earlier fixture, the Kings won 110-100. In fact, the Kings have won three of their last five head-to-head matches against the Mavericks. The Mavericks are a tough opponent to beat at home, especially with their defense, which has restricted opponents to fewer than 110 points in their last five home games.  They have also averaged 115 points scored at home. We back the Dallas Mavericks to win this contest and predict the total match points to be over 225.
