The Mavs are missing Luka Doncic
The Mavericks come into battle after a terrific 6-point victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder as Spencer Dinwiddie rained down 28 points. This win broke a two-game losing streak and the Mavs became the only team to defeat the Thunder more than once this season. However, they are 3-8 in January, because their superstar Luka Doncic has been sidelined due to an injury. His status will be known in a few days but the Maverick’s chance of repeating as NBA Finalists have dwindled significantly.
The Celtics are not as razor-sharp as last season
The Celts enter the game after a disappointing 21-point loss against the Los Angeles Lakers despite a 22-point performance by Kristaps Porzingis. This broke their two-game winning streak but it was understandable since they were playing a back-to-back after a tough game against the LA Clippers. The Celts haven’t won more than three in a row for around two months now, which sums up their season. Their offense has suffered during numerous stretches, and their over-reliance on three-ball has backfired(league-high 48.9 three-point attempts). At any rate, they both have the depth and the experience to bounce back to their championship ways.

The Mavericks shocked the elite Thunder in the last game, but they have been miserable out of that. They are no match for Celtics’ depth without Luka Doncic. Apart from that, the Celtics have fond memories of beating them 4-1 in the Finalists just a few months ago. Thus, they will enter with a great edge here. The total can be over 225 points and the Celts may carve a 10+ points win here.

nba Hi, I am Shubham. I am currently an NBA Predictions Writer on The Playoffs. I enjoy this job because it helps keep me in the loop about the game I love while fulfilling the pleasure I derive from stats. I got into NBA writing through social media interactions in the mid-2010s as I shared my takes on young talents such as D’Angelo Russell. I hope you enjoy reading my pieces as much as Dennis Rodman loved rebounding the basketball!
