Dak Prescott Holds a Surprising Record That Might Catch You By Surprise

Eric Divakaran

The 2025-26 Dallas Cowboys are having a rough season. At 4-5-1 so far heading into December, they are once again on the outside looking in on the playoffs. The offense remains explosive, led by Dak Prescott, but the defense is one of worst in football, ranking dead last in points allowed and routinely turning close games into blowout losses. Another year of high hopes is slipping away, and the Cowboys will need to step on the gas pedal until the finish line arrives, if they hope to make the playoffs.

Yet right in the middle of this mess, Dak Prescott holds a surprising record that caught most of us off guard, now that they take on the Eagles on Sunday in an AFC East battle. Let’s find out more.

Dak Prescott’s Impressive NFC East Record

To keep it simple, we’ll simply say, Dak Prescott owns the east. While it may be hard to believe with the Cowboys‘ struggles in the recent years, since taking over as Dallas’ starting QB in 2016, Prescott has tallied a career 33-8 record in divisional matchups. This gives Prescott a massive win rate of 80.5.

This record is so historic that it puts him amongst some of the best QBs of all-time. Since 1970 merger only Patrick Mahomes has a higher win percentage vs his own division with 85.4. Next on the line; Dak Prescott. Anytime you beat a Tom Brady record (78.4), you know you are in elite company.

He’s Doing It in a Tough Division

Here’s what makes Dak’s numbers even crazier: he’s dominated the hardest division of the bunch.

Since Prescott became the starter in 2016, the rest of the NFC East has a .491 winning percentage, higher than the division Mahomes and Brady faced. The Eagles alone are 90-57-1 in that span and have won two Super Bowls while Dak has been in Dallas. No other QB on that list ever had to play a divisional rival that reached, let alone won multiple Super Bowls during their run.

Dak is 14-2 against the Giants (no losses since 2016) 12-2 against Washington, and 9-5 against those loaded Eagles teams. Mahomes and Brady never posted division win percentages that against comparable comparison.

Add the fact that Prescott is tied with the last two league MVPs for most career wins when trailing by 8+ points in the fourth quarter, and the picture is clear.

Dak Prescott is not the problem in Dallas, when he’s in fact been a solution. While he’s been heavily scrutinized by many in the past, this stat should show what he’s all about; winning if it isn’t clear by now.

I cover the National Football League and things cannot get better than that. I always dreamed to play football or basketball professionally since I’m built like a Running Back. But now that I can’t, since I’m technically in the “Unc” age, I thought why not pick a career in sports industry? So here I am, doing what I love, and hoping that the Commanders win the Super Bowl. I give love to players when it’s due, but can be critical about their performances at the same time. Enough about me, now let my articles do all the talking.
