Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones Feels Micah Parsons Return to Dallas Doesn’t Warrant a Tribute

Micah Parsons is back in Dallas for the week 4 clash against his former team!

The Dallas Cowboys traded pass rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers in one of the more shocking moves in the modern-day NFL on August 28.

Exactly a month later, the talented pass rusher is set to make his return to the city he called home for the past 4 years as the Packers take on the Cowboys in their week 4 matchup. But what type of reception will the former Cowboy receive in Dallas this coming Sunday?

Jerry Jones Doesn’t Fancy a Tribute for Parsons’ Return

Parsons will be returning to Dallas for the first time after his trade. But Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones has no plans on throwing him a tribute despite having done so for others such as Emmitt Smith and Ezekiel Elliott in the past.

“I don’t think that’s appropriate this way. Emmitt was a different story,” Jones said. “But that’s not to diminish Micah. But I think Micah’s got enough ‘welcome,’ out there, and we just need to show we’ve got antidotes for that.”

Parsons and the Cowboys’ owner were embroiled in a contractual standoff for the entire offseason. Both parties had their reasons, and one thing led to another. Parsons decided to miss the on-field training sessions during training camp and didn’t participate in preseason games either.

Eventually, the Cowboys decided to trade him to the Packers just days before the start of the new season. That move not only shocked the Cowboys’ faithful, but Dallas’ defense has taken a massive hit as well.

How Has the Parsons Trade Fared for the Cowboys

With Parsons gone from the defensive line, Dallas is struggling to contain their opposition. Through the first three weeks, they have given away 92 points, which includes a huge 31-14 loss on Sunday at the hands of the struggling Chicago Bears.

The Cowboys currently find themselves with a 1-2 record, and their only win has come against the New York Giants, who are 0-3 themselves.

On the contrary, Parsons has adjusted phenomenally with his new team and has been a larger contributor to Green Bay’s 2-1 start. Pro Football Focus (PFF) has him as the number three pass rusher through 3 weeks of football with a grade of 91.5. More than that, his teammates have been benefiting greatly due to his presence on the field.

So, whether there is a tribute for Parsons or not, expect there to be plenty of fireworks on the field when the Packers go up against the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football’s (SNF) prime-time slot.
