Coco Gauff vs. Dayana Yastremska Head-to-Head, Preview, Prediction, and Betting Odds for Wimbledon 2025 First Round

Gauff eyes smooth start as Yastremska looks to spring a surprise

Second seed Coco Gauff begins her Wimbledon campaign against unseeded Dayana Yastremska in the first round. The American, who claimed her second Grand Slam title at Roland Garros last month, enters with solid momentum, while Yastremska arrives on the back of quarterfinal runs in Nottingham and Eastbourne.

Coco Gauff vs. Dayana Yastremska Preview

Gauff has finally hit her stride, but it wasn’t always this way this year. After a quarterfinal run in Melbourne and a brief slump, she rebounded with a strong clay season, reaching finals in Madrid, Rome, and Roland Garros, where she claimed her second Slam by beating world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets.

Still, inconsistency showed in a shocking first-round loss to Xinyu Wang in Berlin. Stat-wise, Gauff has hit 114 aces in 41 matches, with a 70.1% first-serve win rate, 49.5% return points won, and a 54.1% break point conversion rate.

Yastremska started strong with a Hobart quarterfinal, a third round in Melbourne, and a final in Linz. But she fell into a slump mid-season, failing to go beyond the third round. Until her recent runner-up finish in Nottingham and a quarterfinal in Eastbourne, where Alexandra Eala handed her a straight-sets defeat.

She has fired 110 aces in 36 matches, with a 62.7% first-serve win rate, 44.4% return points won, and a 47.9% break point conversion.

Coco Gauff vs. Dayana Yastremska Head-to-Head Record

Coco Gauff leads Dayana Yastremska 3-0 in a one-sided rivalry that began in Madrid last year. Straight-set wins in both their 2024 meetings, including Roland Garros, underlined Gauff’s dominance. But in Madrid this year, Yastremska came out swinging, bageling Gauff in the first set. Regardless, the reigning French Open champion dug deep to pull off a gritty comeback and keep her perfect record intact.

My journey into sports media began far from the field, rooted in the arts and sciences. Funny enough, I didn’t grow up a sports fan; I used to see it all as just noise. But a fateful writing job introduced me to the world of sports, and what began as a gig quickly became a passion. I understood those voices aren’t noise; they’re emotions of true sports fans, and now I am one of them, writing with the same energy I once questioned.
