Cavaliers: Are they contenders or pretenders?

The Cleveland Cavaliers will enter the game after a clutch 1-point win against the San Antonio Spurs, as Donovan Mitchell scored 26 points. The Cavs have won three in a row and six of their last seven games. The current winning spell came after a four-game losing streak, but overall, the Cavs have emerged as the favorites to make it out of the East. Cleveland has a brilliant offense, as they have scored 122.2 points per game. (1st).

The Cavaliers do have some issues. Their defense has some loopholes, as they have given up 120+ points regularly. The bench is also a bit suspect outside of De’Andre Hunter, and the team can fall apart if a starter is injured. But it doesn’t take away from what the Cavs have accomplished. There can be doubts about their title chances because the defending champs, the Boston Celtics are well-versed at the defensive end.

Kings: Discouraging prospects

The Sacramento Kings will enter the game after a 23-point win against the hapless Charlotte Hornets, as Zach LaVine put up 26 points. The win broke a three-game losing streak, but it hasn’t buried the team’s recurring issues. Sacramento has a 5-12 record since early March, which hasn’t allowed them to get out of the eliminator round. Earlier, their offense was clicking, but lately, it has also suffered.

Their defense has been inconsistent throughout the season but even slight improvements have been overshadowed because of their borderline woeful offense. Lately, Keegan Murray and Malik Monk haven’t performed offensively as expected whereas starting Keon Ellis over Monk hasn’t worked out too. Overall, the Kings may not even make it out of the play-in tournament because of their wonky play on both ends.
