Cincinnati Bengals Suffer Shutout Loss to the Ravens – Eliminated from 2025 NFL Playoffs

The Cincinnati Bengals’ playoff hopes were dashed in a humiliating 24-0 defeat to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 15 at Paycor Stadium. Trailing 14-0 at halftime, the Bengals couldn’t mouth a comeback, and in fact were far from it. Quarterback Joe Burrow threw for 225 yards but had no touchdowns and two interceptions, including a pick-six in the fourth quarter that sealed the game.

This marks the first shutout loss for Cincinnati since Burrow became the starter, with their previous 20-0 defeat to the Ravens taking place in the 2017 opener. The loss dropped the Bengals to 4-10 for the season, which was not only embarrassing but confirming their elimination from playoff contention.

Cincinnati Bengals Out of Playoffs Early Again

For the third straight season, the Bengals are missing the postseason. This early exit is a stark contrast to their 2021 run to the Super Bowl, where they fell short against the Los Angeles rams. Since then, the team has struggled to regain that form. In 2023 and 2024, they finished with identical 9-8 records, just missing the playoffs each time. But 2025 has been the worst yet, with a dismal 4-10 mark after 15 games.

Their offense, usually a strength for them, has faltered without consistent play from key players this season. The elephant in the room that needs to be discussed is their defense, ranking dead last in total defense, 31st in passing defense, 32nd in rushing defense, and also dead last in scoring defense allowing a whopping 33.4 points per game.

Injury Woes Plague Burrow and Team

A major factor in this slide was Joe Burrow’s turf toe injury, which sidelined him for nine games. Without their star quarterback, the Bengals only won twice in his absence, exposing weaknesses in the backup options and overall depth, even after trading for Joe Flacco.

Even after Burrow returned, the Bengals could not turnaround their season as turnovers and defensive lapses continue to hurt the team. Fans are left wondering if changes are needed in coaching or roster to avoid another lost season. Rising concerns over Joe Burrow’s future at Cincinnati is starting to be a topic of discussion, and head coach Zac Taylor’s future could also be now in the air.
