The Kansas City Chiefs are set to host the Washington Commanders for Week 8’s Monday Night Football action, live from GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs come into this matchup after thoroughly dominating the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 7, shutting them down and not letting them get a single point. The game ended 31-0 and the scoreboard doesn’t do enough justice to the kind of notice that the Chiefs sent across the league. They are currently on a 2-game winning streak and are third in the AFC West. The Chiefs also welcomed back Rashee Rice in Week 7 who had an immediate impact in his first game scoring two TDs. Now that the Chiefs are fully back and in full strength, they will be a handful to deal with moving forward.
The Washington Commanders and Jayden Daniels have been struggling this season, dropping below .500 after their loss to the Dallas Cowboys recently. After having a great rookie season, Daniels’ sophomore season is quickly turning into a nightmare, even with all the offseason additions. Part of it is because of the difficult schedule they have this season compared to last year, but also because of the various injuries and offensive/defensive lapses. Facing the Chiefs, the Commanders will need to be on high alert because they at a risk to drop two games below .500.

|---|---|---|
| Patrick Mahomes under 0.5 interceptions | -146 | -135 |
| Rashee Rice anytime TD scorer | -105 | -115 |
| Travis Kelce anytime TD scorer | -110 | -115 |
Patrick Mahomes has only thrown two picks this season and that was mostly because of the lack of help from the Chiefs’ players. In the last seven games, Mahomes has thrown only two interceptions and in the last two games, he has not thrown any picks, completing above 70% of his passes. With Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy both back, and the Commanders’ pass defense, it is highly unlike Mahomes throws an INT.
Rashee Rice scored two TDs in his first game against the Las Vegas Raiders after coming back from his suspension. Having Rice back in the lineup, helped the whole squad especially Mahomes, who was struggling to find targets earlier. Rice is a huge deep threat and can create explosive plays, resulting in a touchdown. The Commanders are 21st in scoring defense and 25th in passing defense, which makes it easier for Rice to get a TD.
Travis Kelce is a threat to score at any given moment because the Chiefs are now back in full strength with their receivers, Rice and Worthy back in the lineup. Just because of their presence, Kelce could be left wide open at times, resulting in him scoring a TD. Both Rice and Worthy will likely draw a lot of attention to themselves, causing havoc for the Commanders’ secondary.
The Chiefs should be easily able to get the win against the Commanders because of Washington poor defense; 27th in total defense, 25th in passing defense, 20th in rushing defense, and 21st in scoring defense. The Chiefs, despite their struggle at times, are 5th in total offense and 6th in passing offense, which will be extremely hard for the Commanders to stop. Add Jayden Daniels’ hamstring injury ruling him out for the game, and they just do not have the answer to get past the Chiefs. We expect this game to be lopsided, with Chiefs blowing the Commanders out of the window.
