Enzo Maresca’s men ended a brief winless streak with their cup comeback. However, doubts remain after their chaotic 2-1 defeat to Manchester United last weekend. Although notably, Chelsea are unbeaten in 12 league games at Stamford Bridge. They’ve gone seven clean sheets in their last nine at home. 

Goalkeeper Robert Sanchez is available again after serving a ban, but injury concerns persist. Cole Palmer is battling a recurring groin problem but could return to the starting XI. Meanwhile Marc Guiu, Dario Essugo, Benoit Badiashile, Romeo Lavia, and Levi Colwill are still sidelined. Mykhaylo Mudryk is also serving a suspension, leaving squad depth stretched.

Brighton

Brighton’s stunning EFL Cup win has increased pressure on Fabian Hurzeler to translate that form into the league. However, in the league, his side have won just once in five outings. They surrendered a two-goal lead in last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Spurs.

They are also yet to collect a single away point this season. Gomez’s heroics in midweek should earn him a starting spot, likely at the expense of Brajan Gruda. Injury-wise, Maxim De Cuyper could return at left-back, but Jack Hinshelwood, Solly March, and Adam Webster remain out of action.
