Casper Ruud vs. Hamad Medjedovic Head to Head Record, Preview and Prediction for ATP Barcelona Open 2025 Round of 16

Sankalp Harikrishnan

Ruud is the defending champion in Barcelona.

After making a thunderous start to his campaign, Casper Ruud takes on Serbia’s Hamad Medjedovic for a spot in the ATP Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell quarterfinals. Ruud, the defending champion in the Catalonian capital, currently stands at No. 10 in the ATP Rankings. The winner of this match will face either Holger Rune or Sebastian Baez in the last eight stage.

Self-admittedly a tournament that he loves, Casper Ruud beat Daniel Galan in straight sets en route to the pre-quarterfinal. “One year ago, I had one of the best weeks of my life. So the memories come back,” said the second seed after his Round-1 win. Ruud has a 20-6 record on clay over the past year. On a side note, the Norwegian has failed to reach the quarterfinal stage in five out of six events in 2025 – he will hope that the Spanish city changes his fortunes.

Hamad Medjedovic came through qualifying in Barcelona, before upsetting the big serving Giovanni Mpetshi-Perricard in the opening bout. The 21-year-old recently achieved his career-high ranking of No. 71 in the world, and has wins over the likes of Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas this year. Winning close to 82% of his service games on clay over the past year, he will offer a tough fight to Ruud.

We sense that Casper Ruud could face some challenges in overcoming the formidable Medjedovic challenge on Wednesday.
