Casper Ruud vs. Dominic Stricker Head-to-Head Record, Prediction and Betting Odds for ATP Swiss Open Gstaad 2025 Round-2

Sankalp Harikrishnan

Norwegian returns to action after 1.5 months.

Top seed Casper Ruud makes his highly anticipated return to the ATP Tour with a Round of 16 clash against home favourite Dominic Stricker of Switzerland. They will battle it out for a spot in the quarterfinals of the 2025 EFG Swiss Open in Gstaad on Wednesday. The winner is likely to face either Jan-Lennard Struff or David Goffin in the last eight stage.

A knee injury forced World No. 13 Casper Ruud to miss the entire grass court season in 2025. The two-time Roland Garros finalist won the Madrid Masters on clay, and also reached quarterfinals in Barcelona and Rome. In the beginning of the season, the Norwegian managed to reach the final in Dallas. Yet to get past Round-2 at the majors this year, Ruud is currently 25-8 in the ongoing campaign. He has won 80.5% service games on the red dirt over the past year.

On the other side of the net, will be 22-year-old Swiss starlet Dominic Stricker. He overcame veteran Pierre-Hugues Herbert in the opening round in three tight sets. Stricker lost in Round-1 at the Australian Open, following which he resorted primarily to the Challenger Tour. Currently 1-5 this year, his most recent tournament was Wimbledon – where he lost in the final round of qualifying.

Casper Ruud vs Dominic Stricker Head to Head Record

Casper Ruud currently trails the head-to-head against Dominic Stricker by 0-1. The Swiss young gun won their solitary encounter in the Basel Round of 16 two years ago. Coincidentally, their second meeting in Gstaad will also be on Swiss terrains. Nonetheless, it will be on clay – a surface more suited to Ruud’s style of play.

Casper Ruud vs Dominic Stricker ATP Swiss Open 2025 Prediction

While Stricker will receive the unwavering support of the Swiss crowd, Ruud knows this surface inside out. He won back-to-back titles here in 2021 and 2022, and has the game to dismantle Stricker. The Norwegian will look to push the southpaw to the corners with top-spin angles, and open up the court to attack and finish off the points. Stricker will need to produce a flawless baseline game to stand a chance against Ruud.

Prediction: Casper Ruud in three sets.
