Four days after nearly relinquishing his crown with a shock loss, World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz finds himself fending off more threat in Round-3 of the 2025 Wimbledon Championships. The Spaniard will be up against the powerhouse German Jan-Lennard Struff in a fiesty Centre Court affair on Friday. The winner of this clash will face either Andrey Rublev or Adrian Mannarino in the Round of 16.

Alcaraz is arguably in the form of his life – the 22-year-old is on a 20-match winning streak since losing the Barcelona Open final vs Holger Rune. ‘Carlitos’ secured a brilliant championship run at the HSBC Championships ahead of Wimbledon, and has been winning 85.5% service games on the surface. With a 44-5 record and five trophies to show for it in 2025, the top seed is undoubtedly one of the favourites to retain and regain his golden glory.

An underrated power-hitter on grass, Jan-Lennard Struff has served his way into the Round of 32. Striking 28 aces across two matches, the 35-year-old is in top form. Despite his mediocre 1-2 grass court statistic before SW19, Struff managed to upset No. 25 seed Auger-Aliassime in his last encounter. His best performance of the season is a quarterfinal showing at the Open 13 at Marseille.
