A round two match at the 2025 Italian Open pits the Spaniard, World number 3, Carlos Alcaraz, against the Serbian veteran Dusan Lajovic. The 21-year-old Alcaraz is clearly the much better player heading into this match, even though Lajovic has been around for much longer. Ideally, this should be an easy match for Alcaraz, who should move on without much fuss.

The Spaniard has had a great outing since the clay season began, winning the Monte-Carlo Masters and making it to the final in Barcelona, where he lost to Holger Rune. Unfortunately, though, he was unable to compete in Madrid due to an injury, but his form on clay has been stellar thus far.

Things have been quite challenging for the Serb, who hasn’t made any deep runs so far. In Rome, he has come through to the main draw after defeating Cameron Norrie and Ethan Quinn in the qualifiers and Yoshihito Nishioka in the first round.
