Carlos Alcaraz stormed into the quarterfinals of the 2025 Wimbledon championship after defeating Andrey Rublev 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 in four sets. The Spaniard lost the first set in tie-break but came back to win next three sets to reach the final 8 of the competition. Carlos Alcaraz brought Centre Court crowd on their feet after a dominant victory.

During the victory in the round of 16, the 5-time major champion dropped an insane passing shot which was regarded as the Play of the Day by the Wimbledon. The defending champion is chasing a three-peat in the Wimbledon to join Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in this century.

Carlos Alcaraz Becomes Youngest Player to Reach this Grand Slam Milestone

The defending champions has extended his winning streak to 22 matches and with three more wins, he will clinch the Wimbledon trophy for third straight year. Carlos has now recorded a 29-3 win-loss record at Wimbledon and a 75-12 overall at Grand Slams. These numbers are at the age of 22 and Carlos will ended up as one of the finest tennis player in the men’s singles.

At the age of 22 years and 56 days, Alcaraz has become the youngest man in the Open Era to play 12 Grand Slam quarter-finals. He surpassed the 11-time major champion Björn Rune Borg. Borg won the Wimbledon championship five times and he won the titles five in a row. Carlos also became the youngest player since Nadal (2006-08) to reach three consecutive men’s singles quarter-finals at Wimbledon.

Carlos Alcaraz is on a 18-match winning streak in the Wimbledon and his last defeat came in 2022. He won the titles in 2023 and 2024. The Spaniard is also unbeaten on the grass court and recently won the Queen’s Club championship. The world No. 2 will now take on the British ace, Cameron Norrie in the quarterfinals.
