Carabao Cup Round Two Draw: Date, Time, Teams, and All You Need to Know

Moumita Dutta

The Carabao Cup second round draw nears. The competition moves towards its second-round stage and the more top-tier teams are getting involved this time. The draw will be conducted live on Wednesday, August 13, ahead of Birmingham City’s Round One clash with Sheffield United at St Andrew’s.

Sky Sports presenter Mark Chapman will host the proceedings at approximately 7:20 pm BST, during the build-up to kick-off. The draw will also introduce 11 Premier League clubs who are not competing in European competitions this season. It would mark their first involvement in the tournament.

How the Draw Works and Who’s Involved

The Carabao Cup remains regionalised in its early stages. Clubs are split into Northern and Southern sections until the third round. This format means many regular Premier League names will be placed into one of the two sections alongside the winners from Round One.

This includes teams, like West Ham, Fulham, Everton, Leeds, and Manchester United. The Red Devils finished 15th in the Premier League last season, so they would be involved this early into the competition. There will be nine Premier League teams participating in European competitions.

This includes Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, and Nottingham Forest. All of these teams will be entering the competition in Round Three.

Round One matches are being played across Tuesday, August 12, and Wednesday, August 13. Ties such as Cheltenham vs Exeter City and Huddersfield vs Leicester City will be among the fixtures. The winners will join the second-round entrants.
