Both teams have navigated challenging paths to reach this stage and will be eager to secure the first silverware of the year. The Reds are the defending champions, having beaten Chelsea in extra time last season. Meanwhile, Newcastle United have a chance to end a run of 56 years without winning a major title.

Liverpool booked their place at Wembley with a dominant 4-0 win over Tottenham at Anfield, sealing a 4-1 aggregate triumph under Arne Slot. On the other hand, Newcastle overcame Arsenal in their semi-final clash, delivering a strong performance to earn their spot in the final. With both teams coming off convincing semifinal wins, the stage is set for Sunday’s final.

However, both of these teams are dealing with injury concerns that could impact their squad selection.​

Trent Alexander-Arnold suffered an ankle injury during the Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain, ruling him out of the final. Defenders Joe Gomez and Conor Bradley are also sidelined due to injuries, leaving manager Arne Slot with limited options at right-back. As a result, Jarell Quansah, who was named in Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad, will start at right back.

France center-back Ibrahima Konate has returned to training and is expected to be fit for the final, providing a big boost to Liverpool’s defense. The Egyptian forward could once again be the difference-maker as Liverpool aim to lift their 11th Carabao Cup title.
