Formula 1 Extends Canadian Grand Prix Contract for 4 More Years!

Formula 1 is extending the Canadian Grand Prix contract.

The Canadian Grand Prix 2025 gave Formula 1 their fourth winner of the year. George Russell took pole on Saturday and drove to victory on Sunday. It was a weekend of joy for Mercedes and their newest rookie. Kimi Antonelli became the third youngest podium winner of Formula 1 in Montreal.

Overall, the 2025 Canadian GP was a package that delivered when it needed. The Canadian GP contract already secure ahead of the 2025 season. It looks Formula 1 organisation was much impressed with Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. The Formula 1 management had given Canadian GP a big gift after the race came to a conclusion in 2025. This move was a collaboration with Octane Racing Group. They have been the pioneers behind F1 racing in Canada. Octane Racing Group’s contributions to Formula 1 was a major factor in deciding the fate of the race.

Canadian Grand Prix will Stay on the Formula 1 Calendar Until 2035

A new decision was put out regarding the Canadian Grand Prix contract. The race will stay on the calendar until 2035 as a part of the new deal. The Canadian Grand Prix was going to shift dates in the upcoming season. It would be hosted on the same weekend as Indycar’s Indy 500 race and the Coca-Cola 600 race of NASCAR.

As per the announcement, F1 CEO Stefano Domenicalli says-

“As Formula 1 celebrates its 75th anniversary, it is fitting that we have announced an extension with the Canadian Grand Prix, a race that has such incredible history in our sport and is named after a true legend in Gilles Villeneuve. Montréal is an incredible city, full of energy and passionate fans, and I am delighted to confirm that we will continue racing here through to the 2035 season and that our media rights deal with Bell Media is also extending in the long term.”

Canada’s home hero was unable to bring in positive results this weekend. Nevertheless, the circuit has seen a host of first time winners in Formula 1. Four of the current drivers have won the Canadian Grand Prix at least once in their career. Lewis Hamilton, who won his first race in Canada, is the best driver on track with seven wins to his name.

The Canadian Grand Prix is one of the most enjoyable tracks of the season. The asphalt and weather provide a unique challenge to teams. It also introduces shifts in the championship battle as seen in 2025. The Canadian Grand Prix contract extension is one decision that fans will support Formula 1 for.
