Can The Eagles Be The Next Dynasty?

The Eagles have been dominant recently but the will that continue

The Philadelphia Eagles are just coming off a resounding victory in the Super Bowl over the Kansas City Chiefs. This team took the field on Sunday with the belief that they were the far superior and dominant team and executed their game plan to the tee.

Both sides of the ball played a brilliant game. As a matter of fact, the Eagles outplayed, outthought, and downright dominated Kansas City to a point where the game was a mere formality in the fourth quarter.

Philadelphia’s offense led by game MVP Jalen Hurts kept it simple and moved the ball well putting up points regularly. And while the 2024 Offensive Player of the Year Saquon Barkley was neutralized by Kansas City, Hurts and the Eagles’ receivers made the necessary plays.

However, the biggest factor of the game was the thorough manhandling of the offensive line by the Eagles’ defense. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio knew how to expose the Chiefs’ weakness and prepared his players well during the two weeks leading up to the big game. The defense as a whole put on a show right from the D-line to the secondary and Mahomes and the Chiefs just had no answer. This masterclass of a performance on Philadelphia’s part now begs the question – of whether the Eagles have what it takes to become the next dynasty.

Rex Ryan’s Thoughts On A Potential Eagles Dynasty

Following the recently concluded Super Bowl, NFL analyst and former coach Rex Ryan was asked whether he thought that the next dynasty could potentially come from this Philadelphia team to which he opined that this Eagles’ team has seen quite a bit of success recently, even last season when they won 10 of their first 11 games before everything went downhill.

Ryan also added that the Eagles have the best team roster-wise and have drafted really well as most of the players are young. During the draft, Philadelphia’s philosophy of late has been to draft the best players and not draft according to their needs which eventually leads to their success.

Ryan’s words to close out the question were quite straightforward, “Yes, this team could be their own dynasty. Now, what stands in their way? A team that can do, that is multiple on offense, that can run the football with a physicality and a team that can throw it, a team like Detroit, a team like Baltimore. That’s what’s going to be in their way, I think.”

How Can The Eagles Become The Next Dynasty?

Becoming a dynasty is not an easy thing to do in professional team sports, and it is all the more challenging in a league such as the NFL where there are so many players, coaches, and staff involved in shaping the outcome.

However, looking at the current Philadelphia team, they have such a great roster on both sides of the ball that they are set up for continued success.

Offensively, under center, they have Jalen Hurts who uses his dual-threat ability to outplay most defenses. In his four seasons as a starter in this league, Hurts has led the Eagles to the Super Bowl twice and reached the postseason each year. They have two high-quality receivers in A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, a reliable tight end in Dallas Goedert, one of the best current running backs in Saquon Barkley, and a legitimately top offensive line to protect their signal caller.

On the other hand, Philadelphia has a scarily dominant D-line led by Jalen Carter, followed by a strong linebacker core consisting of Nolan Smith Jr., Zack Baun, Josh Sweat, and Brandon Graham, and a vastly improved secondary with a balance of youth and experience.

Philadelphia’s Head Coach Nick Sirianni has shown he has what it takes to get the best out of his team and lead them to the biggest prize football has to offer. Moreover, the organization is also in capable hands with EVP and GM Howie Roseman working his magic in the draft and free-agent signings. Hence, the future looks really bright for the Eagles and they could very well be the next dynasty in the making.
