The Houston Texans are facing uncertainty after a scary moment on Sunday when star quarterback C.J. Stroud left the game with a head injury, exiting the game.

C.J. Stroud Enters Concussion Protocol After Brutal Head Slam vs. Broncos

In the second quarter, Broncos rookie corner Kris Abrams- Draine launched low and drove his shoulder into C.J. Stroud’s chest. The force whipped Stroud’s head straight into the turf, keeping him down for three full minutes. While Trainers rushed out, no flags were thrown as the referees ruled it a legal shoulder hit.

When Stroud finally stood up, he wobbled to the blue medical tent with two trainers holding his arms. Doctors checked his eyes and balance, and minutes late he walked helmet-less to the locker room.

Team doctors are testing him for concussion and the official word for now is that he’s questionable to return.

C.J. Stroud’s Replacement

Backup QB Davis Mills jogged in, replacing Stroud. This will be the only the second time we’ll see Mills this season, and he may play significant minutes in this game against the Broncos, until we know Stroud’s future.

This isn’t Stroud’s first head injury, as he missed one game in his rookie season due to concussion.

Fans held their breath as the jumbotron replayed the slam in slow motion. Head coach DeMeco Ryans hugged Stroud on the sideline before he disappeared into the tunnel.

For now, Houston prays its franchise QB walks back out and plays the rest of the game.
