Burnley Set To Sign Manchester City Defender Kyle Walker

Kyle Walker’s vast experience of playing in the Premier League and his leadership skills are expected to bolster Burnley’s backline.

Kyle Walker is set to join Burnley after completing his medical with the newly promoted Premier League side. The move will bring an end to his decorated eight-year spell at Manchester City. During his time at Man City, Walker won 17 trophies with City, including six Premier League titles and the 2023 Champions League. The veteran defender recently earned his 96th England cap in a friendly against Senegal.

Walker spent the latter half of last season on loan at AC Milan, where he made 16 appearances before the Italian club opted against a permanent move. Now, the 35-year-old England right-back will sign a two-year contract with the Clarets. He will reunite with Burnley boss Scott Parker, his former teammate during their Tottenham days from 2011 to 2013. According to football journalist Fabrizio Romano, the deal could be worth £5m.

Walker Becomes Burnley’s Fifth Signing of the Summer

Walker was the club captain last season at Manchester City before he asked for a move away in January. He eventually joined AC Milan, with Bernardo Silva succeeding him as club captain. The speedy defender also did not feature in Pep Guardiola’s Club World Cup squad. The defending champions were sensationally knocked out of the FIFA Club World Cup at the last-16 stage after a dramatic 4-3 extra-time defeat to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal.

Walker becomes Burnley’s fifth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Axel Tuanzebe, Quilindschy Hartman, Max Weiss, and Loum Tchaouna. The club has also made loan moves for Bashir Humphreys, Marcus Edwards, Zian Flemming, and Jaidon Anthony permanent.
