Bulls Zach LaVine out indefinitely amid trade rumours

Swati Bhatia

LaVine is averaging 24.0 points and 4.5 assists while shooting 51.2% from the floor.

Chicago’s push to move Zach LaVine could finally bear fruit, with the Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns showing interest in the star guard. After a rocky couple of seasons, it seems like LaVine might get the fresh start he has been hoping for since last year.

LaVine, who’s been trying to find a new home for some time, hasn’t had the easiest road. Last season, poor play and a foot surgery really hurt his trade value. His massive $43 million salary didn’t help either, making it tough for the Bulls to find a team willing to take him on.

Selected 13th overall in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves, LaVine has been with the Bulls since 2017. However, he didn’t enjoy much success in the white & red jersey.

But this season, things are looking up for the 29-year-old. He is having his most efficient season yet, putting up 24.0 points and 4.5 assists while shooting 51.2% from the floor.

According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, talks between the Bulls and the Phoenix Suns have taken place, with the idea of Bradley Beal possibly landing in Chicago. However, recent reports suggest Beal is not willing to waive his no-trade clause to join the Bulls.

The Golden State Warriors is also reportedly considering a trade that would send Draymond Green to the Bulls in exchange for LaVine. With Golden State struggling to find scoring consistency outside of Stephen Curry and Andrew Wiggins, a move like this could make sense. The Warriors may be looking to swap some defense for offense, adding LaVine’s scoring ability while shipping out Green.

Meanwhile, Bulls’ insider K.C. Johnson has reported that Milwaukee Bucks have also shown serious interest in trading for LaVine.

Why Zach LaVine will miss the next few games for the Bulls

Amid the trade buzz, LaVine will be sidelined for a while, but not for the reasons you might think.

While speculation continues about a potential move before the February 6 trade deadline, LaVine’s absence is due to a personal matter. He and his wife, Hunter, recently announced they are expecting their third child. As a result, LaVine is expected to miss the Bulls’ entire upcoming road trip to be by his wife’s side.
