Seattle Kraken Forward on the Radar of Cup Contenders and Bubble Teams as observed by NHL Insiders.

With the NHL trade deadline fast approaching, teams across the league are weighing their options and strategizing for crucial roster changes. This is the time of year when general managers are busiest, exploring every opportunity to strengthen their squads. Among the names swirling in trade rumors is Seattle Kraken forward Brandon Tanev, whose skillset and experience have caught the attention of several teams.

Renowned NHL insider Pierre LeBrun recently shared insights on Tanev’s trade prospects, stating that interest is coming from both established Stanley Cup contenders and teams on the playoff bubble. He also mentioned that while Tanev has a modified no-trade clause, his preference leans toward joining a high-caliber team with a legitimate shot at the championship. If he remains with Seattle past the deadline, the upcoming free agency in July could present new opportunities, with teams like Ottawa potentially being in the mix.

Since being selected by the Seattle Kraken in the 2021 expansion draft from the Pittsburgh Penguins, Tanev has played a vital role in the team’s development. Over 236 games with the Kraken, he has registered 41 goals and 45 assists, accumulating 83 points. As he approaches the end of his six-year, $21 million contract, which carries an average annual value of $3.5 million, the prospect of moving to a contending team seems increasingly likely.

For Tanev, a trade to a Stanley Cup hopeful could provide the chance to take his career to the next level. With his grit, speed, and two-way play, he could be a valuable asset to a team looking to strengthen its depth for the postseason. Whether he remains in Seattle or finds himself donning a new jersey before the deadline, one thing is clear that Brandon Tanev’s journey in the NHL is far from over, and the coming weeks could shape the next chapter of his career.
