Honoring Dr. Katherine Koh and Supporting Mental Health Initiatives During Bruins vs. Lightning Game

The Boston Bruins will hold Mental Health Awareness Night, sponsored by Mass General Brigham, on Tuesday, January 14, during their home match against the Tampa Bay Lightning at 7 p.m. at TD Garden.

Throughout the match, the Bruins will honor Dr. Katherine Koh as the Community All-Star, sponsored by the Massachusetts State Lottery. Acknowledged as a national authority in street psychiatry, Dr. Koh’s efforts act as an innovative framework for providing mental health services to individuals facing homelessness and aiding their move into secure housing.

Representatives from Shoulder Check, a program designed to encourage individuals to engage in mutual support through minor actions, will be present at a table on the concourse behind Loge 20 during the game. At the shoulder check table, supporters will discover “I Check On” cards, allowing them to express why they value checking in on the mental health of those they care about. To my readers: Hockey is more than just a game—it’s the highs, the heartbreaks, and the moments that make us jump off our seats. So, keep cheering, keep debating, and never stop loving the madness of the sport!
