At just 19 years of age, Jobe Bellingham has already made a significant impact in the Championship with Sunderland.
Borussia Dortmund have taken a major step forward in their bid to sign midfielder Jobe Bellingham from Sunderland. According to reports, top club officials from the German side travelled to England this week to initiate talks with Bellingham. The Bundesliga side are not alone in their pursuit of the Sunderland star. RB Leipzig and Real Madrid are also monitoring the situation closely.
According to Sky Germany, Dortmund’s Lars Ricken, Sebastian Kehl, and head coach Niko Kovac were spotted arriving by private jet at Newcastle Airport, just 20km from Sunderland for what appears to be advanced discussions over a summer move.
While none of the Dortmund delegation have publicly confirmed the purpose of the trip, it is widely understood that they presented the club’s vision and sporting ambitions for next season to the 18-year-old midfielder. Notably, Jobe is the younger brother of former Dortmund star and current Real Madrid sensation Jude Bellingham. Jobe is under contract at Sunderland until 2028 and is currently valued at around €25 million.

Premier League teams including Manchester United and Chelsea have also shown interest in the midfielder. Despite the transfer speculation, Sunderland and Bellingham remain focused on their primary objective, which is to earn promotion to the Premier League through the upcoming playoff campaign. Sunderland play Coventry in the semi-final 1st leg on Friday and will aim to book their place in the final at Wembley later this month.
