There is a lot to unpack with the recent events that have took place in the NFL. Joe Flacco being traded away from the Cleveland Browns to Cincinnati Bengals was a shocker. While we did expect the Bengals to make a move in search for a quarterback, we certainly did not see Flacco as their favorite target. Ever since the Joe Burrow turf toe injury, the Cincinnati Bengals made their backup QB Jake Browning a starter. However, that did not prove to be fruitful, as he threw 8 interceptions in just four games, and led the Bengals to a 1-3 record, making them 2-3 for the season so far.
On the other hand, the Cleveland Browns were equally struggling with Joe Flacco, going 1-3 with him as the starting quarterback. Flacco, 40-years-old, has been on the downside of his NFL career, throwing 6 interceptions on only 58.1 pass completion rate. The Browns had three quarterbacks to choose from and ultimately decided to part ways with Flacco while naming Shedeur Sanders as the backup and Dillon Gabriel as the starter.

Joe Flacco was named a starter for the Cincinnati Bengals’ game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, announced Bengals’ head coach Zac Taylor. The Bengals are most likely going with this decision, looking at their current starter Jake Browning’s recent performances, throwing for 757 passing yards, 6 TDs, and 8 interceptions in just four games.
Joe Flacco might not fully end the Bengals’ three-game skid, marked by Jake Browning’s eight interceptions and a brutal scoring deficit, but his veteran presence does offer hope. With 18 NFL season, a Super Bowl ring, and his most recent win coming against the Packers, where he led the Browns to a win, Flacco’s strong arm could unlock Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, stabilizing the offense at least until Joe Burrow’s return.
Flacco was not the only problem while he was with the Browns, and he certainly did not have elite offensive weapons like Chase or Higgins. If he manages to turn the Bengals’ season around and at least lead them to the wildcard round, Flacco could win the Comeback Player of the Year award yet again as he did in 2023 , while leading the Bengals. However, these are just speculations for now, and the Bengals’ pass protection is still a cause of concern.

mma I cover the National Football League and things cannot get better than that. I always dreamed to play football or basketball professionally since I’m built like a Running Back. But now that I can’t, since I’m technically in the “Unc” age, I thought why not pick a career in sports industry? So here I am, doing what I love, and hoping that the Commanders win the Super Bowl. I give love to players when it’s due, but can be critical about their performances at the same time. Enough about me, now let my articles do all the talking.
