Barcelona vs Real Madrid Copa del Rey Final – Injury News, Match Preview and Predicted Line-Ups

Abhinav Goel

Barcelona will be brimming with confidence after two dominant wins over Real Madrid earlier in the season.

The 2025 Copa del Rey final brings a new chapter in football’s fiercest rivalry as Barcelona and Real Madrid square off at Estadio de La Cartuja in Seville on Saturday night. This will be the first meeting between the two teams at this stage of the competition in 11 years. In that match, Gareth Bale scored an iconic goal to win it for Real Madrid in Valencia.

Barcelona enter the final with hopes of completing a historic treble and are brimming with confidence after two dominant wins over Madrid earlier in the season. The Catalans have been in exceptional form throughout 2025 and are chasing their 32nd Copa del Rey title and their first final triumph over Madrid in the competition since 1990.

But when it comes to El Clasicos, form rarely dictates the result. Real Madrid, reeling from a disappointing Champions League exit at the hands of Arsenal, will be desperate to salvage their season with silverware. They’re hunting for their 21st Copa del Rey crown and will be determined to come out on top here. With silverware on the line and pride at stake, this edition of El Clasico promises fireworks.

Barcelona Injury News

Barcelona have been handed a timely boost ahead of the Copa del Rey final with club captain Marc-André ter Stegen declared fit and named in the squad. However, striker Robert Lewandowski remains sidelined with a hamstring injury and is not expected to return until next month’s La Liga clash against Real Madrid. Ferran Torres is likely to lead the line in Lewandowski’s absence.

The Catalans are also without Alejandro Balde, who is still recovering from a hamstring problem while Marc Casado and Marc Bernal continue their spells on the sidelines. Frenkie de Jong and Jules Kounde should also come back into the starting lineup after being rested against Mallorca.

Real Madrid Injury News

Real Madrid will be without Eduardo Camavinga and David Alaba for the Copa del Rey final, as both players picked up muscular injuries in the midweek win over Getafe. Camavinga is now expected to miss the remainder of the season, while Alaba’s absence further stretches Carlo Ancelotti’s defensive options. Fran Garcia has been confirmed by Ancelotti to start at left-back.

Long-term absentees Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao remain sidelined due to knee injuries, although there is optimism surrounding the fitness of Ferland Mendy and Kylian Mbappe. The French forward sustained an ankle injury against Arsenal in the Champions League but is expected to recover in time for Saturday’s clash. Mendy could also return to the matchday squad.
