Barcelona vs Girona Preview, Betting Odds and Predictions – 18/10/25

Moumita Dutta

Barcelona return to La Liga action this Saturday with a home clash against local rivals Girona, hoping to arrest a troubling run of form. After two straight defeats, they’ll be eager to reassert their dominance at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.

La Liga standings add extra spice. Flick’s side sit second, trailing Real Madrid by two points, while Girona occupy 18th, tied on points with the team just above the drop zone. Barcelona cannot lose any more points if they want to keep pressure on Real Madrid.

Barcelona vs Girona Preview

Barcelona

The Blaugrana have endured back-to-back reversals. They lost 4–1 against Sevilla and suffered a 2–1 home defeat to PSG. It increased pressure on Hansi Flick to restore confidence. With high-stakes matches ahead, there are multiple injury concerns.

Lamine Yamal has resumed training though a start is unlikely, and Fermin López may return. Out long-term are Lewandowski, Raphinha, Gavi, Olmo, Marc-André ter Stegen, Joan García, and Ferran Torres. In attack, Toni Fernández or Roony Bardghji might be drafted into the frontline.

Girona

Girona head into this fixture off a 2–1 win against Valencia. It was their first win of the season. They are now unbeaten in three matches. Manager Michel faces a host of absences: Alejandro Francés and Iván Martín are suspended, while Juan Carlos, David López, and Donny van de Beek are injured. The fitness of Abel Ruiz, Viktor Tsygankov, and Azzedine Ounahi is under assessment. Up front, recent arrival Vladyslav Vanat — with two goals in five games — is expected to feature again.

Barcelona vs Girona Over/ Under Predictions

Total Goals Under 3.5 @ +100 as per BetMGM:

Barcelona enter this fixture as clear favorites, but a combination of their injury crisis and recent 4-1 defeat at Sevilla suggests they may struggle to romp home. With multiple attacking options sidelined, a tight, low-scoring contest is plausible.

Girona, though low in the table, have shown resilience in recent games and could force Barcelona into caution. All that points toward under 3.5 goals being a sensible betting line, indicating a likely 1-0 or 2-1 finish rather than a blowout.

Barcelona vs Girona Player Picks

Marcus Rashford to score anytime @ -125 as per FanDuel:

Marcus Rashford is expected to take a leading role in the final third, especially given the absence or fitness concerns over other forwards. With Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Ferran Torres all unavailable, Rashford is one of the few attacking players in form and available for selection. He offers direct threat and pace, making him a go-to anytime scorer in a match where Barcelona must rely heavily on him. That status justifies the -125 line for him to find the net at any point.

Fermin Lopez to either score or assist anytime @ -140 as per FanDuel:

Fermin Lopez is edging closer to full fitness and is seen as a creative outlet for Barcelona in lieu of their regular midfield options. Given his attacking instincts, even if he cannot complete 90 minutes, he remains in contention to influence the game with a key pass or finish. With Barcelona shorthanded in attack, Lopez’s involvement may be more significant than usual, supporting a betting angle on him scoring or assisting at -140.

Girona, unbeaten in three prior to the break and capable of scoring themselves, won’t roll over easily. Meanwhile, Barcelona’s stronger head-to-head history and home advantage give them the edge.

Final Prediction: Barcelona 2-1 Girona

Barcelona’s recent struggles and thin squad make this matchup more vulnerable than it would normally be. In light of tight defenses and a cautious approach, a 2-1 win for the hosts seems the most likely outcome.
