Barcelona Prepare Summer Bid for Serie A Sensation

Abhinav Goel

While Barcelona consider their next steps, they will face stiff competition from Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal and Manchester United.

Barcelona are reportedly considering a move for one of Serie A’s standout performers as the Catalan giants look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new season. Barca have set their sights on Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman, who is enjoying a standout campaign in Italy. Barca are targeting Lookman after the club hierarchy ruled out a move for Athletic Club winger Nico Williams and instead, shifted their attention to other attacking targets.

Lookman is also eager to leave the Italian side this summer, with his dream move being a transfer to Barcelona. While Barcelona consider their next steps, they will face stiff competition from Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal and Manchester United. All four teams teams are now closely monitoring the Nigerian international’s situation.

Lookman’s Sensational Form for Atalanta

According to Fichajes, Barcelona are seriously preparing to launch a bid for Lookman ahead of the summer transfer window. The report suggests that Lookman could be available for around £50 million. The former Everton forward’s arrival would offer Barcelona a fresh dimension in attack with his pace and directness providing a different alternative to the club’s existing options.

Lookman has been in sensational form for Atalanta since joining the Italian club in 2022. The Nigerian forward has been in fine form this season as well, scoring 18 goals and providing seven assists in 37 appearances across all competitions. Capable of playing as a striker, attacking midfielder, or even out wide, his versatility would makes him a valuable asset for Hansi Flick’s side.

In Serie A alone, the forward has found the net 13 times and assisted on five occasions in 28 appearances, helping keep Atalanta in the hunt for European qualification. His influence extended to the Champions League as well, where he contributed five goals and two assists before the Italian side’s exit at the hands of Club Brugge in the knockout round playoffs.
