After an enthralling 3-3 draw between the two clubs in Catalonia on Wednesday, Inter will now host Barcelona in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final at the San Siro Stadium on Tuesday, May 6.
In the first leg at the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium, the visitors raced to a 2-0 lead as Marcus Thuram scored the fastest-ever goal in a UCL semi-final, followed by a Denzel Dumfries goal in the 21st minute that had Hansi Flick’s side searching for answers early in the game. Less than four minutes after the Dumfries goal, Lamine Yamal curled the ball into the back of the net, followed by a Ferran Torres leveller in the 38th minute.
The second half was a much quieter affair, but Dumfries affected the scoreline again as he was involved in a goal for the third time on the evening as the star right wing-back headed the ball into the back of the net. Less than 120 seconds later, Barcelona responded again as Raphinha released a ferocious shot that hit the crossbar and went in courtesy of an unlucky touch from Yann Sommer, who was awarded with an unfortunate own goal against his name in the semi-final of Europe’s elite club competition.
