As the curtains get closer to being drawn on the 2025 Monte Carlo Masters, Saturday will present semifinals action at the Principality. It has been a riveting tournament thus far, with plenty of upsets and some quality tennis on display. While top seeds like Alexander Zverev and Novak Djokovic were ousted early on, World No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz and defending champion Stefanos Tsitsipas continued to impress.

The Monte Carlo Masters is played on the outdoor clay courts of the Monte Carlo Country Club every year. Rafael Nadal is the most successful player at the event – winning the competition on 11 occasions. Meanwhile, Tsitsipas captured three of the last four titles at the event. He unfortunately won’t be featuring in Saturday’s semifinals – here’s all you need to know about the match-ups:

(2) Carlos Alcaraz vs Alejandro Davidovich Fokina

World No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz will battle the unseeded Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the first semifinal. The two players progressed in the bottom half after beating Arthur Fils and Alexei Popyrin respectively. It has been a great tournament for Alcaraz, who has bounced back to form after a poor spring run in the USA. Meanwhile, Davidovich Fokina is into his third Masters-1000 semifinal and second at the Principality.

Alcaraz leads the head to head against Fokina 1-0. Their only previous meeting was on the clay courts of Barcelona in 2023. He prevailed in straight sets. However, this is a completely different ADF and a brand new occasion – the 25-year-old has climbed into the Top-8 in the Race to the ATP Finals. He has also entered the Top-30 of the ATP Rankings.

(13) Lorenzo Musetti vs (8) Alex de Minaur

In all likelihood, this is the harder of the two semifinals to pick a winner. Going by the recent form, Alex de Minaur sits as the firm favourite ahead of the encounter. However, Musetti edged past defending champion Stefanos Tsitsipas in a thrilling quarterfinal on Friday, and is looking to pick up his first championship at the Monaco-based event. On the other hand, de Minaur is yet to pick up a trophy on the red dirt entirely.

Heading into this match with a flawless double bagel performance against Grigor Dimitrov, the demon has a 1-1 head to head record against Musetti so far. They are yet to battle it out on clay; in their last meeting, Musetti emerged victorious at the Queen’s Club event in London. Nonetheless, expect the Australian to come out all guns blazing in order to unsettle Musetti early on.
