As the 2025 NFL preseason rolls into the second week, the first matchup on Friday night will feature the Tennessee Titans taking on the Atlanta Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Falcons are coming into this game after a week 1 matchup against the mighty Detroit Lions. Neither starting quarterback Michael Penix Jr. nor veteran Kirk Cousins took the field in the game against the Lions, so the majority of the snaps under center fell to Easton Stick, followed by Emory Jones. While both players looked good, Stick, in particular, completed 15 of 18 passes for 149 yards and a touchdown.

For Tennessee, the number one overall pick of this year’s draft, Cam Ward made his NFL debut in the preseason week 1 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Although he played only a few series, Ward was able to connect on 5 of 8 passes for 67 yards. Ward’s chemistry with Calvin Ridley looked good, with one play going for 27 yards.
Both teams lost their week 1 preseason games, although in contrasting styles. The Falcons went down 17-10 against the Lions, while the Bucs trounced the Titans 29-7.
The Falcons are most likely heading into this game with limited to no game time for their starters, as was the case against the Lions. Head coach Raheem Morris has already made it clear that Penix will not play, but there is a possibility that Cousins may see the field.

Tennessee’s starters are once again slated to play in the game. They will, however, be restricted probably to just a couple of series before the backups take over. As per the reports from the joint practice sessions, the Falcons came out on top on Tuesday, but the Titans won on Wednesday.

nfl I am a content writer for the NFL team, and joined The Playoffs after working with Sportskeeda and NFL Analysis as an NFL writer. After starting my professional career as a French-to-English translator, working as a content writer is a new adventure for me. I started out in the sports media field for two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis, as well as my passion for writing. The best part of this job is that I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world, which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unite and entertain like nothing else!
