Home favorite Raducanu faces her toughest test yet as she takes on top seed Sabalenka at Wimbledon.
Top seed Aryna Sabalenka will face British No. 1 Emma Raducanu in a high-profile third-round clash at Wimbledon 2025. Raducanu has impressed on home soil, scoring straight-set wins over wildcard Mimi Xu and 2023 finalist Marketa Vondrousova.
Sabalenka, meanwhile, has lived up to her world No. 1 billing, easing past qualifier Carson Branstine and Marie Bouzkova, though the latter did push her to a first-set tiebreak. With both players yet to drop a set, this encounter promises to be one of the most anticipated of the round.

Sabalenka, a two-time Wimbledon semifinalist is in commanding form, reinforcing her world No. 1 status with a stellar season that includes titles in Brisbane, Miami, and Madrid, upsetting Madison Keys, Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff, respectively. She’s also made deep runs at the year’s biggest events, finishing runner-up at the Australian Open, Indian Wells, Stuttgart, and Roland Garros, where she pushed Coco Gauff to three sets in a gripping final.
Her consistency is backed by strong numbers: 171 aces, 67.3% first-serve points won, 47.4% return points won, and a 48.1% break point conversion rate across 51 matches.

Raducanu’s campaign, on the other hand, has been more uneven. While she showed flashes of her potential with quarterfinal finishes in Miami and Queen’s, those performances have been outliers in a season filled with early exits. Her most recent outing in Eastbourne ended in a narrow three-set loss to Maya Joint.
Statistically, she has played 30 matches, tallying 82 aces, a 62.9% first-serve win rate, 46% return points won, and a 52% break point conversion rate.
Wow.

Emma Raducanu beats 2023 #Wimbledon champ Marketa Vondrousova 6-3, 6-3 to reach the 3rd round in London.
That's one of the best performances of her career.

Aryna Sabalenka holds a 1-0 lead over Emma Raducanu in their head-to-head. Their only meeting came last year at Indian Wells, where the Belarusian powered through in straight sets. As they prepare for a rematch on grass, all eyes will be on whether the British No. 1 can flip the script this time.
| Year | Event | Round | Winner | Score |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2024 | Indian Wells | Round of 32 | Aryna Sabalenka | 6-3, 7-5 |
| Aryna Sabalenka | Category | Emma Raducanu |
| 1 | Current Ranking | 40 |
| 458-196 | Career W-L | 135-75 |
| 42-8 | YTD W-L | 16-13 |
| 20 | Career Titles | 1 |
| 3 | Grand Slams | 1 |
| 3 | YTD Titles | 0 |
Sabalenka’s consistent dominance and superior firepower give her a clear edge over Raducanu, who’s yet to find stable footing this season. Unless the Brit No. 1 produces something special, expect the World No. 1 to advance in straight sets.
Aryna Sabalenka is the last top 5 seed standing in the women’s draw at Wimbledon.
