Aryna Sabalenka and Amanda Anisimova are among two of the best baseline attackers on the WTA Tour. It is a rivalry that spans over half a decade, with the American leading the head-to-head by 6-3 at present. At the 2025 Wimbledon Championships, Anisimova pulled off a magnificent 6-4 4-6 6-4 win over the top seed to enter the final. The 24-year-old won the Qatar Open title in February, and also reached finals at Wimbledon and Queen’s Club. This has given her an overall success ratio of nearly 73% in 2025.

Two out of three victories for Aryna Sabalenka against her American counterpart, have come on clay. Her only other win was at the 2024 Australian Open, where she was eventually crowned champion. The 27-year-old has an attacking style of play, which plays into the hands of Anisimova. The 2025 campaign has been full of highs and lows for Sabalenka – although she hasn’t managed to add any Slams to her trophy cabinet just yet, the three-time Grand Slam champion has won three titles and four runner-up trophies so far. Yet to attain a championship run since May, Sabalenka will be on a mission to defy the crowd and deny her opponent.

The winner of the women’s singles final between Aryna Sabalenka and Amanda Anisimova will take home a mammoth $5 million. Meanwhile, the runner-up can still add $2.5 million to their account. It is a record-breaking year for the US Open, as well as the WTA Tour on the whole. While Sabalenka has assured herself the No. 1 ranking even after the tournament, a victory on Saturday will give her a strong boost of confidence for the remainder of the season. Anisimova, on the other hand, is set to rise to a career-high No. 4 in the world on Monday.

For Anisimova, a maiden Grand Slam title is on the line. She can become just the fourth player since 1975 to defeat current or former World No. 1s in the QF, SF and F en route to a major trophy. She will also become just the third player to beat Swiatek and Sabalenka at the same Grand Slam in the process. For Sabalenka, another win will complete her 100th Slam victory – also ensuring that she is the first woman since Serena Williams in 2014 to retain the US Open trophy. She is just the third woman to reach the final in both hard court majors for three consecutive years.
