Who Is Coaching Aryna Sabalenka for the 2025 US Open Finals?

Rudra Dubey

Inside the coaching team guiding Sabalenka’s title defense and Grand Slam dominance.

Top seed Aryna Sabalenka enters the US Open 2025 finals with her trusted coaching team behind her, led by Anton Dubrov. The Belarusian, defending her New York crown, faces eighth seed Amanda Anisimova in a rematch of their Wimbledon semifinal clash. With Sabalenka in her eighth final of the season and having already won in Brisbane, Madrid and Miami, her team’s influence could again prove decisive as she aims to defend her hard-court throne in Flushing Meadows.

Who Is the Coach of Aryna Sabalenka?

Anton Dubrov, 30, has been Sabalenka’s head coach since 2020 after starting as her hitting partner. Their partnership has delivered remarkable consistency, with 14 WTA titles, including three Grand Slams, the 2023 and 2024 Australian Opens, the 2024 US Open, and nearly 50 weeks at world No. 1. Dubrov, who once reached an ITF ranking of world No. 272, brings a sharp eye for detail and a calm demeanor that Sabalenka credits with building her confidence.

Sabalenka has often praised Dubrov’s ability to “offer feedback in a nice way,” and his support proved vital during her serving struggles in 2022. When her double faults mounted, Dubrov even offered to resign, but Sabalenka refused. Instead, they worked through the crisis with the help of biomechanics coach Gavin MacMillan, which culminated in her first major singles title at the 2023 Australian Open.

“I think it’s good for everyone to find this balance between the job and life, this work-life balance,” Dubrov explained. “This helps a lot because you feel more confident and safe on the court.” His steady presence has helped Sabalenka channel her fierce competitiveness into dominance across surfaces, making her one of the most complete players on tour.

Other Coaching Entourage of Aryna Sabalenka

Beyond Dubrov, Sabalenka’s broader entourage has been integral to her rise. Fitness trainer Jason Stacy has long been a pillar of her physical preparation. Stacy, along with Dubrov, was part of the “craziest team on tour” that Sabalenka thanked after her 2023 Australian Open breakthrough.

Sabalenka has also drawn on expertise from undisclosed martial arts specialists, who sharpen reflexes and mental discipline, and hitting partner Andrei Vasilevski. The addition of biomechanics coach Gavin MacMillan in 2022 was pivotal to correcting her serve, a weakness that once threatened to derail her career. Together, these figures form a support system that balances intensity with perspective.

As Dubrov himself noted, keeping calm off the court has been as important as the hours of training. “On the court, it’s your job. You’re working. Yes, it’s a big part of your life, but at the same time, your life outside helps you do your job better,” he reflected, referring to a holistic approach that has grounded Sabalenka during pressure moments.

My journey into sports media began far from the field, rooted in the arts and sciences. Funny enough, I didn’t grow up a sports fan; I used to see it all as just noise. But a fateful writing job introduced me to the world of sports, and what began as a gig quickly became a passion. I understood those voices aren’t noise; they’re emotions of true sports fans, and now I am one of them, writing with the same energy I once questioned.
