Fils is enjoying what appears to be his best season yet in terms of performance, even though a title still eludes him. He began the year strong with a quarterfinal run in Hong Kong, then followed it up with an impressive string of back-to-back quarterfinal appearances in Indian Wells, Miami, and Monte Carlo.

His momentum continued in Barcelona, where he reached the semifinals before falling to Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets. Jarry, by contrast, has struggled to find consistency. He started the year with promise, reaching the quarterfinals in Brisbane before falling to Jiri Lehecka in straight sets. Since then, he hasn’t advanced beyond the round of 16 in any main tour event, with early exits becoming a trend.

Earlier this month, however, he showed a glimpse of form with a quarterfinal run at the Challenger event in Estoril. With a year-to-date record of 5-11, Jarry has hit 130 aces, converted just 27% of his 103 break point opportunities, and won 75% of first-serve points.
