Arsenal stand on the brink of history as they aim to qualify for their first Champions League final since 2006. Mikel Arteta who blessed Arsenal as a player in his time has reached higher levels as a manager. With the Gunners being reborn under the Spanish manager, they have gone back to being a regular presence in the Champions League.

Taking it up a notch in the 2024/25 campaign, Arteta and his side cruised past Real Madrid in the final eight of the Champions League. Facing Paris Saint-Germain in what will be Arsenal’s first UCL semifinal since 2009, Arteta will be looking it up as a season of accomplishments already.

With no time to waste, the Arsenal squad will look to keep their spirits up in the final four. Facing current favourites to win the UCL, PSG, Arteta and his side will have bigger fish to fry. Moreover, with Liverpool winning the Premier League on Sunday, Arsenal’s only chance to glory would be the European title.

Arsenal Path To Finals – UCL 2024/25 Timeline

Arsenal has had a solid Champions League season in overall terms. Arteta’s side has rarely stumbled since the start of the competition. Here is a timeline of their UCL 2024/25 campaign:

League Phase (September ’24 – January ’25)

Arsenal furnished a comfortable way through the new league format phase of the UEFA Champions League. Finishing 3rd on the Table with 19 points out of their 18 games, the Gunners were never in doubt.

Keeping an unbeaten record at Home, Arsenal only lost one game on the road. Additionally, the North London club won the four home games without conceding on the league stage. Bukayo Saka had a significant impact in the league phase before sustaining the injury.

Arsenal remarkably also defeated the semifinal opponents PSG in the second match week of the UCL in October. Arteta’s side announced themselves with a statement 2-0 home win against Luis Enrique’s side. They will meet again in the final four as the Emirates Stadium will host PSG for the second time this season.

Round of 16 (PSV Eindhoven)

Arsenal was drawn against the Dutch club PSV Eindhoven in the Round of 16 following their third-place finish.

Arsenal on their visit to Eindhoven marked one of their biggest victories at the European stages. Beating PSV 1-7 in the first leg, it was safe to say the English club almost had both their feet in the Round Quarter-Finals of the Champions League.

The reverse fixture at the Etihad Stadium ended in a 2-2 draw for a surprise. This was the first time Arsenal conceded at home in the UCL campaign. The Gunners managed to go through into the Quarter-finals on a 9-3 aggregate.

Quarter-Finals (Real Madrid)

With what was their biggest test in the campaign till now, Arsenal faced Real Madrid in the Champions League Quarter-Finals.

In what were no less than heroics, Arsenal managed to gain a 3-0 cushion in the first leg. Thanks to Declan Rice’s two exquisite free-kicks at the Emirates, Arteta’s side was able to put one step in the final four of the UCL 2024/25.

To everyone’s surprise, Arsenal managed to bag wins in both of the legs against Real Madrid. Winning the reverse fixture 2-1 at the Bernabeu, Arsenal qualified with an aggregate of 5-1 into the semifinals of the Champions League.
