Argentina Set for World Cup Qualifiers Against Uruguay & Brazil Amid Key Absences.
Argentina have been in excellent form since before they won the 2022 World Cup. They entered the tournament with a massive 36-game unbeaten streak. They’ve kept up that form since the World Cup still and are favorites to end up at the top of the CONMEBOL rankings.
They’ve registered 8 wins in the 12 World Cup qualifying matches so far. They now have two of their most crucial matches this March – the first against Uruguay and the second against Brazil. In their last two games, Argentina won one against Peru and lost the game before that against Paraguay.

They have four more World Cup qualifier games to play till September. They are five points ahead of second-placed Uruguay. Hence, winning both of these matches will be crucial for Las Albicelestes to keep a hold of the top spot. However, that won’t come easy with missing key players with injuries.

Argentina have announced their final squad for their upcoming two World Cup qualifiers with several notable absentees. Most notably, captain Lionel Messi has been left out of the squad because of injury along with Paulo Dybala, Alejandro Garnacho, Gonzalo Montiel, Gio Lo Celso, and Claudio Echeverri.
Dybala will be missing the matches because of an injury he sustained during AS Roma’s last league match. Reports suggest that Benjamín Dominguez has been called up in place of Alejandro Garnacho.
Meanwhile, coach Scaloni has called up Cristian Romero in the final squad after seeing his fitness in recent Spurs games. The coach and fans would’ve preferred to have Messi in the squad but they will still look to win comfortably against both Uruguay and Brazil.
