Aces vs Sky: Jackie Young Drops 22 Points as Las Vegas Aces Secure 11th Win in a Row, Book Seventh Consecutive Playoff Berth

The Las Vegas Aces are on a dreamy run! On Monday, August 25, the Aces secured their eleventh win in a row as they defeated the Chicago Sky 79-74 in a thrilling encounter at Wintrust Arena. The victory pushed their tally to 25-14, and the Aces became the second team to make the postseason in the 2025 WNBA season. This is the seventh consecutive and 15th overall playoff berth that they have secured in their 28 seasons in the league.

The game saw Jackie Young leading the Aces with 22 points, three rebounds, and seven assists while A’ja Wilson came up with 18 points, nine rebounds, and three assists. Chelsea Gray chipped in 14 points, four rebounds, and seven assists for the Aces while NaLyssa Smith contributed 10 points and three rebounds to their tally. The Aces have had a pretty rough start to the ongoing season. In their first 22 games, they were .500 by winning 11 games and losing 11.

However, things took a drastic turn and they ended up winning 14 of their last 17 fixtures, establishing themselves as one of the favorites to win the title this year.

Chicago Sky Fail to Survive Aces Despite Ariel Atkins’ 30 Points

The Chicago Sky dropped 15th game in 17 outings to fall to 9-28 in the season so far, despite Ariel Atkins’ 30 points. Atkins grabbed four rebounds and dished out seven assists while shooting 10/18 from the field. She became the 10th player in Sky history to record a 30-point game. Apart from her, Kamilla Cardoso came up with 19 points, 10 rebounds and two assists. In addition, Angel Reese poured in 10 points, 17 rebounds and four assists, recording her league-standing 20th double-double of the season.

After trailing the opening quarter by six, the Sky were trailing by 12 points at the end of the first half at 44-32. The gap further got extended to 16 points in the early third quarter. However, Cardoso took charge and the Sky went for a 21-12 run to narrow down the gap to four points as the game entered the final frame. The hosts took the lead late in the game before Gary’s clutch shot turned the momentum of the game.

The night was marked special as the Sky paid tribute to legend Candace Parker by retiring her No. 3 jersey.
