Fever vs Storm: Indiana Fever Continue to Shine Without Caitlin Clark, Take Down Seattle Storm for Fifth Straight Win

The Indiana Fever continued their winning streak and defeated the Seattle Storm 78-74 in an exciting clash on Sunday, August 3. This marked their fifth straight win and pushed their 2025 WNBA tally to 17-12. The Fever were without their superstar Caitlin Clark, who missed her seventh straight game and 16th overall regular-season fixture. Natasha Howard played a pivotal role for the Fever, as she dropped 21 points, five rebounds, and five assists.

With this, she joined Tamika Catchings as the only Fever players ever to record 20+ points, 5+ rebounds, and 5+ assists while shooting 80% from the field. Sophie Cunningham dropped 17 points, five rebounds, and two assists in 33 minutes, while Aliyah Boston tallied 16 points, 12 rebounds, and two assists. The Storm, who are now 16-13, came up with a below-par offensive game, and had Nneka Ogwumike as their leading scorer with 16 points, three rebounds, and three assists.

Skylar Diggins chipped in 13 points, six rebounds, and four assists, while Gabby Williams and Dominique Malonga came up with 12 points each. As Williams grabbed nine rebounds and five assists, she crossed the 700 career rebounds mark.

The Indiana Fever established their dominance over the Seattle Storm right from the beginning. Even while they were without their star player Caitlin Clark for seventh straight game now, the Fever made full use of the talent they had in their lineup. Owing to Natasha Howard’s six points on 3-of-3 shooting, the Fever entered the second quarter leading the Storm 17-16. Howard continued displaying her A1 shooting game in the second quarter, and made it to halftime leading their counterparts 42-34. Howard led the scorers with 12 points, and Sophie Cunningham came up with ten points.

The Storm made a comeback in the third quarter and outscored the visitors 20-16, to narrow the gap to 58-54 before the game entered the final frame. Cunningham scored her season-high with 17 points on the back of three 3-pointers. For the Storm, Williams had 12 points, while Ogwumike had 11 points, respectively. The Storm continued to push for the win in the final quarter, but the Fever took the victory home at 78-74. They are now 9-7 without Clark in the ongoing season.
