Mohamed Salah pens emotional message for teammate Diaz

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has shared a moving message on social media following the high-profile departure of teammate Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich. The Colombian winger’s £65.5 million transfer to the German champions marks the end of a successful yet emotionally charged three-and-a-half-year spell at Anfield.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Salah praised Diaz’s resilience, commitment, and influence — both on and off the pitch — in what he described as an “honour” to be part of his journey.

“Your energy, drive, and passion on the pitch have left a mark that won’t be forgotten,” wrote Salah. “As a teammate, you were more than reliable — you were inspiring. As a friend, even more so.”

The Egyptian forward also referenced Diaz’s off-field struggles — notably the emotional toll surrounding the kidnapping of Díaz’s father in 2023 — and praised the Colombian’s mental strength in returning to top form during turbulent times.

“What you went through would’ve broken most, but you came back strong and gave everything for the club. That kind of resilience sets an example for others and earns nothing but respect.”

Diaz Departure Signals New Chapter Under Arne Slot
