Valkyries vs Dream: Cecilia Zandalasini’s Jumper in Final Seconds Lead Valkyries to Victory Over Atlanta

Golden State Valkyries forward Cecilia Zandalasini hit a turnaround baseline jumper to lead the team to a 77-75 victory over the Atlanta Dream. The Italian finished with 18 points, eight rebounds, and two assists. The win pushed Golden State to 4-1 in the last five games. Apart from Zandalasini, Tiffany Hayes dropped 15 points, three rebounds, and five assists, while Carla Leite chipped in 12 points, four rebounds, and two assists.

Veronica Burton scored 10 points, four rebounds, and one assist for them. On the other hand, Jordin Canada came up with 21 points, two rebounds, and eight assists for the Dream, who are now 15-11 following the defeat. Naz Hillmon came up with 14 points, eight rebounds, and three assists while Allisha Gray chipped in 12 points, six rebounds, and two assists.

Golden State Build Early Dominance over Atlanta

The Valkyries got off to a strong start and quickly gained a seven-point lead in the first quarter, owing to their early 11-0 run. They finished the quarter with a 20-16 lead but couldn’t keep up with the momentum in the second quarter. The Dream outscored them at 23-19 in the second period, and both teams entered the halftime tied at 39-39. However, in the third quarter, Golden State used another 11-0 run, capped off by a three-point bank shot by Veronica Burton, and got a 10-point lead.

They entered the fourth quarter with a 13-point lead but could only manage to put up eight points. Canada brought Atlanta back into the game, and the two teams were tied at 75 with 25.7 seconds left when the Valkyries got a key stop and got the ball with only 15 seconds remaining. Zandalasini hit a go-ahead jumper with 3.9 seconds left and eventually guided them to a remarkable win.
