Caitlin Clark’s 55-Year-Old Stalker Found Guilty of Harassing Her, Sentenced to Two-and-a-Half Years of Imprisonment

A 55-year-old man from Texas has been sentenced to two-and-a-half years of imprisonment after he was found guilty of harassing Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark. According to prosecutors, the stalker named Michael Lewis was banned from Gainbridge Fieldhouse, home of the Fever, after he sent Clark around 800 threatening messages on social media. Not only this, but he was also warned to stay away from all the future events of both Fever and the Indiana Pacers.

According to a report by The Athletic, Lewis also drove from Texas to Indianapolis and Gainbridge Fieldhouse multiple times. He had also said to bought tickets to a Butler University women’s basketball game since he knew the Fever guard would be at. He was arrested in January in Indianapolis, only one mile away from where Clark’s team play their games. Due to her fear of the threat from the messages, Clark had to alter her appearance in public.

Michael Lewis Was in an ‘Imaginary Relationship’ with Caitlin Clark

Following his arrest, Lewis denied that his posts on social media, which were directed towards Clark, were threatening. He said that he wrote them as any other regular social media post, which said that he was in an “imaginary relationship” with the 23-year-old. Not only this, but during one of his hearings, he claimed he had “never threatened her, I’ve never thought about threatening her.”

On the other hand, Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears said in a statement, “This resolution ensures that the defendant is held accountable for his threatening actions, the fear he instilled, and the disruption he caused. He will now spend the next two and a half years in the Department of Corrections, and the victim will be able to have peace of mind while focusing on what matters to her.”

Notably, Lewis was ordered to have no contact with Clark and not to use the internet during his imprisonment term.
