Griner and Canada silence Minnesota crowd
The Minnesota Lynx have suffered their first home game defeat in the WNBA season. The shocker came at the hands of the Atlanta Dream on Sunday. Despite the result, the Lynx are comfortably placed at the first position.
The Dream vs Lynx game opened with both teams trading baskets in a tightly contested start. However, the Atlanta Dream went slightly ahead and closed the first quarter with 22-19. The dominance of the visitors continued in the second quarter as well.
Atlanta controlled the tempo and outscored the Minnesota Lynx 24-13 to end the second quarter strong. Napheesa Collier maintained scoring on one end while on the other Brittney Griner kept matching those buckets. The Dream finished the first half on a high.

The Lynx struggled to find reliable support beyond Collier, missing a consistent secondary scoring option all night. They made a comeback in the third quarter with 22-14. This reduced the deficit in the Dream vs Lynx game and made it a more thrilling contest going into the fourth quarter.
Atlanta Dream kept their nerve in the final 10 minutes. A major credit to that also goes to Jordin Canada, who complemented Brittney Griner on the scoresheet. The back and forth between the two sides was brilliant. The Dream consistently answered every Minnesota run, showing composure and control in the game’s closing minutes.
Ultimately, Atlanta emerged with a 90-86 win, handing Minnesota their first heartbreaking home defeat of the WNBA season. Brittney Griner scored 22 points, Jordin Canada 18 points, and Allisha Gray 12 points. On the other side, Collier dropped 32 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists.
Atlanta Dream coach Karl Smesko said, “Great win for us, beating the best team in the league on the road. A lot of people had a great game. BG especially was somebody that was exceptional down low. Tori and Maya have combined to give us some really good minutes since the break.”
