USMNT Star Timothy Weah’s Agent Slams Juventus for Blocking Marseille Move

Despite reported interest from English Premier League sides such as Leeds and Nottigham Forest, Weah prefers a move to Marseille.

Tensions have escalated in the ongoing transfer saga involving USMNT winger Timothy Weah. The player’s agent has publicly criticised Juventus for their handling of Weah’s proposed move to Olympique de Marseille. The French club has been in talks for weeks to sign the 25-year-old USMNT forward, who has already agreed personal terms with Marseille.

However, negotiations between the two clubs have stalled, primarily due to Juventus’ valuation of the player. Juventus are reportedly holding out for a deal worth €20–22 million, an amount Marseille deems excessive. An earlier attempt to include midfielder Valentin Rongier in the deal was also rejected by Juventus and Rongier has since joined Stade Rennais.

Timothy Weah’s Agent Slams Juventus Management

Weah joined Juventus from Lille two years ago for €12 million but has struggled to cement his place in the squad, managing just 14 goal contributions across 78 appearances. Despite reported interest from English Premier League sides such as Leeds United and Nottigham Forest, he strongly prefers a move to Marseille.

Frustrated by the stalemate, Weah’s agent Badou Sambague has launched a scathing attack on Juventus’ management, singling out one club manager.

“Juve is a fantastic club. The sporting department is run by three people—two have class, the other is still searching for it,” Sambague told RMC Sport, hinting that Juventus general manager Damien Comolli is the one causing the problems. Sambague claimed that Comolli is pushing for a move to the Premier League, specifically to clubs like Nottingham Forest, rather than allowing Weah to join Marseille.

Sambague said,

“Tim Weah is always professional, but was left out during the [Club] World Cup. This person botched his [Club] World Cup, tried to force him to go where he wanted. Today, as revenge, he’s demanding a fortune and waiting for a Premier League offer that won’t come and will never be approved by us.”
