Barcelona vs Vissel Kobe Back On After Resolving Issues

Ritam Dey

FC Barcelona have confirmed their pre-season friendly against Vissel Kobe will go ahead as planned this Sunday in Tokyo, just days after the match was abruptly called off.

The Spanish club had previously cited “serious contractual breaches” by the unnamed promoter as the reason for the cancellation. However, the situation has now been rectified, and the team flew out to Japan on Friday morning.

The promoter involved in the dispute was not directly named in the latest statement, but the Yasuda Group had been mentioned in earlier tour announcements. It remains unclear what the contractual disagreements were, but Barcelona’s quick resolution points to a desire to maintain their growing international presence and commercial partnerships in Asia.

Alongside the Vissel Kobe fixture, the Blaugrana are scheduled to play FC Seoul and Daegu FC in South Korea on July 31 and August 4, respectively. These matches form part of a broader pre-season campaign under new manager Hansi Flick, who is eager to assess his squad in competitive settings.

Rashford headlines Barca’s Asian tour squad against Vissel Kobe
The 30-man squad flying to Asia includes a surprising new face — Marcus Rashford. The England international joined Barça on an initial one-year loan from Manchester United earlier this week. At 27, Rashford becomes the first Englishman to sign for the Catalans since Gary Lineker in 1986.

Barcelona hold an option to buy the forward for €35 million in 2026. With attacking reinforcements a priority this summer, all eyes will be on Rashford’s integration into Flick’s system during these upcoming friendlies.
