Victor Osimhen Set for Permanent Galatasaray Switch After Stellar Loan Spell

Ritam Dey

Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk has confirmed that the club is close to completing the permanent signing of Victor Osimhen from Napoli. The Nigerian striker enjoyed a phenomenal 2024–25 season on loan in Istanbul, leading the team to a domestic double with the league title and Turkish Cup.

Osimhen was the Turkish Süper Lig’s top scorer, netting 26 goals in 30 appearances with an impressive conversion rate of 18.8%. He also bagged five goals in four Turkish Cup matches, including a brace in the final against Trabzonspor.

“We Are Nearing the End” – Buruk Confirms Osimhen Departure

Speaking to the media, Buruk said, “Everything is going well with Osimhen. We are nearing the end. We want it to end as soon as possible.” The Galatasaray boss highlighted Osimhen as the club’s top transfer target and revealed that a significant portion of their summer budget is being allocated to secure the 26-year-old on a long-term deal.

Buruk also stated that the club has been in positive talks with Napoli and the player himself, expressing confidence that a permanent transfer is imminent.

Once the Osimhen deal is finalized, Galatasaray plan to shift focus to other squad areas—particularly the goalkeeper position. Despite strong pre-season showings from Gunay and Jankat, Buruk underlined the club’s desire to bring in another shot-stopper.

Additionally, some departures may be necessary to balance the books and make room for new arrivals. While Victor Osimhen’s signing is the centrepiece of Galatasaray’s transfer window, the club is expected to remain active in the market as they build toward another title-contending campaign.
