There seems to be an unbreakable magnetic bond between Carlos Alcaraz and the SW19 trophy. For the third consecutive year, the 22-year-old Spaniard will bid to capture the Gentlemen’s Singles crown at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships. However, he will have to overcome the toughest test in men’s tennis in order to complete the hat-trick. World No. 1 Jannik Sinner stands in Alcaraz’s way of history.

The Sinner-Alcaraz duel has quickly moulded itself into a sporting rivalry that has generational potential. Two gladiators and masters of their respective crafts, they have been touted to take over from the “Big-3” for the next two decades. On Sunday, the No. 2 seed will aim for a 9th career win vs Sinner – and 6th in a row. Needless to say, the five-time Grand Slam champion will have a team of supporters who will push him to the limit.

Coaching Team and Support Staff

The leading men in the Alcaraz box are his team of coaches. Juan Carlos Ferrero is the head coach of the reigning French Open champion. Alcaraz and Ferrero have been working together since 2019, three years before the Spaniard captured his maiden Grand Slam trophy at the US Open. Ferrero is a former World No. 1 and Grand Slam champion as a player. He previously worked alongside Alexander Zverev as a coach.

Assistant coach Samuel Lopez is also travelling with the team at SW19. Having joined the Alcaraz setup in 2024, the 55-year-old has previously mentored former Olympic bronze medalist Pablo Carreno Busta for a decade. During the 2024 Australian Open, Lopez stood in for Ferrero – the Spanish veteran was undergoing knee surgery.

Meanwhile, Alcaraz’s fitness trainers and physiotherapist have also joined the team in London. Juanjo Moreno is the fitness coach of Carlos Alcaraz. “When we prepare Carlos for any competition, it is for him to win,” Moreno said. Alcaraz’s personal trainer Alberto Lledo and physio Fran Rubio can also be seen in the Centre Court stands on Sunday.

Family – Mother, Father, Brother

Carlos Alcaraz’s parents travel for most of his tournaments – particularly the big events. Mother Virginia Garfia Escandon and father Carlos Alcaraz Gonzalez have played a big role in the prodigious talent getting to where he is today. While his father is a former tennis player and director at their local club built by Alcaraz’s grandfather, his mother used to work at IKEA.

Alcaraz, a multimillionaire, still lives with his parents. And he doesn't want to change that.

“For me, it’s amazing to have you here supporting me,” Alcaraz said after beating Zverev to win the 2024 French Open. “Since I was a little kid, I’ve said many times, I was running from school to put on the TV and watch this tournament. Now, I’m lifting the trophy in front of all of you.”

Elder brother Alvaro Alcaraz will also be in attendance. Carlos is the second of four sons in the Alcaraz Garfia family. Alvaro used to play competitive doubles, and now travels with his brother for several tournaments. “It’s great to have you here, supporting me every day, to make me a better person. [I’m] learning from you as well, so thank you for being with me,” said the former World No. 1 after losing the 2023 Cincinnati Open.

Agent – Albert Molina

Albert Molina has been working with Carlos Alcaraz since the age of 12. He manages the Spaniard’s routines and daily formalities. Molina was one of the talking points after the release of the 22-year-old’s docu-series ‘Carlos Alcaraz – My Way.’ He was often seen reprimanding Alcaraz for occasionally slacking off. Molina is evidently the one calling the shots and dictating terms when required.
